NOTICE TO PLAYERS

Play is governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association and R&A Rules Limited and, where applicable, by the following Local Rules, and Terms of the Competition. The following Local Rules apply and can be found in the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf, effective January 2019. Unless otherwise specified, the penalty for breach of a Local Rule is the general penalty.

LOCAL RULES:

  1. PACE OF PLAY –The maximum time for the stipulated round is four hours and thirty minutes. Groups will be monitored for Pace of Play.

  2. INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE - Include the following: all Flower Beds, the Red Barn on the left side of #8 and railroad ties and retaining walls when located in penalty areas.

  3. OUT OF BOUNDS – Defined by white stakes and perimeter fencing.

  4. GROUND UNDER REPAIR –Defined by white lines.

  5. BALL PLAYED FROM OUTSIDE RELIEF AREA WHEN TAKING BACK-ON-THE-LINE RELIEF: Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule E-12.

  6. REPLACEMENT OF BROKEN OR SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED CLUB – Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-9.

  7. BUNKERS – A player is entitled to free relief for lie of the ball only in a disturbed area of a bunker. The player, in taking free relief, must drop the ball within one club length of the disturbed area, no nearer the hole, under Rule 16.1 A player is not permitted to improve a lie in a bunker, to bump the ball into a better position with a club or otherwise, or place a ball in a bunker under this Temporary Rule.

  8. FOAM INSERTS (POOL NOODLES) – Are placed in hole liners to keep the ball from falling to the bottom. Before a stroke, players may adjust the noodle if it may impede the path of the ball or has come out of/or any part of it is above the hole. A ball is considered holed when it comes to rest within the circumference of the hole with any part of the ball below the lip of the hole.

    CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION:

  1. FORMAT – The competition will be 18 holes of individual stroke play.

  2. TEEING GROUND – Will be defined by the Portland Classic tee markers.

  3. ONE EXEMPTION INTO 2020 PORTLAND CLASSIC will be awarded to the winner (subject to LPGA policies).

  4. PLAY-OFF – If necessary, a play-off for 1st place will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff to begin as soon as all scorecards have been signed and returned.

  5. LIST OF CONFORMING DRIVER HEADS  – Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-1.

  6. LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS – Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-3.

  7. CADDIES ARE PROHIBITED — Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule H-1.1

  8. PROHIBITING USE OF CERTAIN TYPES OF SHOES – Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes or where metal may come in contact with the course are prohibited during a round. Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-7.

  9. CLOSE OF COMPETITION – The competition is closed when the 1st place finisher has been announced by the Committee.

  10. FINAL DECISIONS ON DISPUTED POINTS – Will be made by Terry McEvilly, Shawn Hoffman Barb Trammell.
